Amanpulo - Palawan

An idyllic, tropical haven for the beach lover, Amanpulo (peaceful island) is set on its own private island surrounded by white-sand beaches, turquoise waters and a coral reef. The resort opened in 1993 with 40 casitas modelled after the Philippine bahay kubo dwellings. All manner of watersports are available including diving, fishing and sailing. Location

Amanpulo is located on the coral island of Pamalican, in the Philippine province of Palawan. The 90-hectare island is surrounded by white-sand beaches and seven square kilometres of coral reef. Beyond are sandbanks and a channel, where dolphins and sea cows have been known to stray.

Amanpulo is accessed by private air charter from Manila, which has flights to several major international destinations. Guests are met at Manila's international airport and taken by complimentary transfer to the Amanpulo lounge, adjacent to the departure point. Transfers and flight vouchers are all arranged by Amanpulo staff. Guests fly directly to Pamalican Island in a 19-seat, twin-engine turboprop, landing at the resort's private airstrip

Rooms

VILLA (beachfront)
This luxurious, four-bedroom estate includes nine free-standing pavilions interspersed within a garden setting. Located just a few metres from the sea, the 4,140sq m beachfront Villa enjoys an untouched beachfront.

Villa guests have access to all Amanpulo facilities and services. Two, four-seat club cars are provided for exploring the island.

Master Casita: The beachfront Villa's 62sq m master bedroom features a kingsize bed, a writing desk and table and chairs. Sliding glass doors open onto a sundeck set with divans and steps leading to the beach. The spacious marble bathroom with twin vanities, a soaking tub and an open wardrobe and dressing room, has an airy garden ambience. A separate shower room can be entered from the beach. The master bedroom is equipped with a stereo system and a DVD player.

Guest Casita: The Villa's three, 51sq m, twin-bed guest rooms include a writing desk and table and chairs. Sliding glass doors open onto a sundeck with a day bed and steps leading to the garden. The marble bathroom in each features twin vanities and a separate shower and soaking tub. The floors are in Philippine hardwood.

Each bedroom is air-conditioned and equipped with IDD telephones, safes and a minibar. All are equipped with satellite television.

Lounge Pavilion: Window panels open on all four sides, lending a garden setting to the 64sq m Lounge Pavilion, with its ceiling fans, white-cushioned wicker couches and woven Filipino rugs. A sundeck connects to the Dining Pavilion. The Lounge Pavilion is fully air-conditioned and is equipped with satellite television and a DVD player.

Dining Pavilion: The open, 26sq m Dining Pavilion features a round, fossilized stone table with seating for up to eight persons. A garden path connects to the kitchen. Additional paths lead to the Beach Pavilion and the Master Casita.

Beach Pavilion: The open, 13sq m Beach Pavilion includes cushioned seating and provides shade for beachfront and lagoon activities. Twin sundeck chairs and two large beach umbrellas are also provided.

Kitchen Pavilion: The separate, 36sq m kitchen is located behind the Lounge Pavilion. The kitchen is air-conditioned and fully equipped with a two-door refrigerator/freezer, an oven and microwave oven, blender/mixer, coffee maker and toaster. A main feature is the central island range, with its deep fryer, two gas burners and electric grill. A spacious walk-in pantry with built-in shelves is connected to the kitchen.

VILLA (beach/garden)
Set within a 5.6 hectare complex stretching from the hillside down to the sea, the beach/garden Villa compound is comprised of four private casitas and a separate villa or bunkhouse.

Master casitas: Two tree-top casitas and two beach casitas are identical to those in the resort.

Bunkhouse: This one-storey building is ideal for children and their nannies with four bedrooms fitted with bunk beds and two bathrooms as well as a loft with one private bunkbed room and ensuite bathroom. A living room area offers television and mini bar.

Beach Club: An al fresco beach club offers comfy daybeds for lounging, a large dining area, private bar area and kitchen. Pebble-washed steps lead to the villa's private stretch of beach which is equipped with loungers and umbrellas.

The beach/garden Villa comes with its own fully equipped kitchen as well as three four-seater club cars and one six-seater club car.

VILLA SERVICES
Each Villa comes with two attendants to prepare and serve breakfast, light snacks and refreshments. Both villas enjoy round-the-clock private dining. Arrangements can also be made to provide all ingredients for privately prepared meals. A gardener and supervisory staff tend to both villas
